๐ Gluten-Free Dining Essentials
Not a giant list of everything gluten-free on Amazon โ just the handful of things that actually solve real problems when you're eating out or cooking gluten-free in Austin.

Most of what we recommend on this site is a restaurant, not a product. But a few physical things genuinely make gluten-free life easier โ one for talking to kitchen staff, a couple for when a restaurant doesn't pan out, and a couple for the nights you're cooking at home instead. This page is short on purpose.
For the Table
Explaining celiac disease to a server mid-rush is where most cross-contact mistakes start. A card does that conversation for you.
Equal Eats Gluten-Free Dining Card
A wallet-sized plastic card that lists what "gluten-free" means and which common ingredients to watch for, in plain English. Hand it over instead of explaining celiac disease from scratch every time. We reference this same card in our Torchy's, Chuy's, and Chick-fil-A guides.

For the times a place doesn't have anything safe, or you're stuck somewhere like Whataburger with genuinely nothing worth ordering.
Snyder's of Hanover GF Pretzel Sticks
24 individually wrapped 100-calorie packs. Keeps well in a car or bag for months, and it's a mainstream brand most people already trust rather than an obscure specialty item.

SkinnyPop Gluten-Free Popcorn Bags
30 single-serve bags. Popcorn is about as low-risk as snack foods get for cross-contact, and these travel better than most chip alternatives.

Most people on a gluten-free diet cook more at home than they used to, not less. These two are the ones worth keeping stocked.
King Arthur Measure for Measure Flour
Swaps 1:1 for regular flour in most recipes without the texture problems cheaper blends run into. The most reviewed gluten-free flour on Amazon for a reason.

Jovial Organic Brown Rice Spaghetti
Holds up better than most gluten-free pasta brands instead of turning to mush two minutes past al dente. Made in Italy, widely available, and priced like regular pasta.

You won't find gluten-digesting enzyme supplements on this list. Products like GliadinX are marketed as protection against accidental gluten exposure, but there's no clinical evidence they prevent the intestinal damage celiac disease causes, and no supplement makes cross-contact safe to risk on purpose. If you're newly diagnosed and someone recommends one of these as a safety net for eating out, talk to your gastroenterologist first.
